Methoxychlor Safer Than DDT for Dairy and Beef Cattle
State entomologist Dr. H. M. Harris announced revised guidance on DDT use around livestock following an FDA ruling. DDT should not be used on dairy cattle or dairy barns, nor on beef cattle marketed within 30 days. Methoxychlor is recommended as a substitute around dairy cattle, barns, and near cattle to be marketed soon, as it does not appear in milk or fat.
