Waltonians Boost Membership to 804
Waltonians report membership rose by 260 in the last year to 804. At the annual meeting in the M C A with over 100 members present, A J Smith outlined civic activities including the Cedar Rapids sewage disposal plant, Palisades dam, Cedar river cleanups, and Camp Conservation aiding 2700 underprivileged children since its founding nine years ago.

Clyde Tolson to Speak at Luncheon Club Meeting
Clyde A. Tolson of Washington DC assistant director of the FBI and son of J W Tolson will address a joint meeting of all luncheon clubs at the Hotel Roosevelt Thursday noon. The Lions club sponsors the open event with J Edgar Hoover praising Tolson as an able leader. Tolson began in Cedar Rapids 1918 moved to DC to earn a George Washington University law degree.

Grain Sacks No Loot Incident Reported at Local Bank
An unidentified man leaving the Merchants National Bank building with sacks of grain triggered a burglar alarm. Police responded to the scene after a bank worker accidentally stepped on the alarm. A bystander shouted that the robber had escaped. the grain samples remained with the elevator.
