Benefits Extension Would Restore Aid To Five Months
Perez toured Capitol Hill this week saying state administrator concerns could be resolved. The package would extend unemployment benefits retroactively to December 28 for five months, with a late May cutoff. It costs 9.6 billion funded by border customs fees and other measures. The bill prohibits benefits for individuals earning over one million dollars yearly and adds workplace assessment programs for long term unemployed. The aid targets long term unemployed who have exhausted six months of benefits.
