Building Ban May Hit Radio Stations
Washington FCC chairman Charles R. Denny said he will seek clarification of the new building ban to determine if it will halt construction of 500 to 700 radio stations proposed this year. The FCC faces about 1,300 applications for standard band, FM and TV stations nationwide, with roughly half expected to be approved in 1950. Some officials and broadcasters fear the order could stop nearly all construction as towers rise and studios are prepared.
