The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission will decide the fate of 10 casino license applications after 10 hours of presentations. Commissioner James Q. Lynch reports the group will visit casino sites to evaluate proposals and assess potential impacts.
Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission members begin a two day bus tour April 6 visiting 10 proposed casino sites to assess features on site with short programs. Public hearing on proposals set for May 4 with comments welcome via phone email or mail and confidential background reports from the Division of Criminal Investigation.

Paul Hammerand Jr. and Peggy Hammerand, of Maquoketa, were hurt when a car driven by Elmer Klocke pulled into their path at a rural intersection north of Maquoketa. Klocke was charged with failing to yield at an intersection. Peggy was treated at Jackson County Public Hospital. condition on the couple unavailable.
Jodi Enos, 43, of Toddville, sentenced to 70 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to aiding and abetting the manufacture of five grams or more of methamphetamine. Officers found meth in her pocket after a suspended license arrest and stored ingredients in her car trunk and home. Lochner, her accomplice, has pleaded guilty to related charges and faces sentencing April 20.
