Gazette veteran Frank Nye, longtime editor, dies at 70
Frank T. Nye, 70, a former associate editor and political writer for The Cedar Rapids Gazette, died Saturday after a heart attack near his home. He retired in 1980 after a career spanning The Gazette, Clinton Herald and Des Moines Register among others. Nye was born November 27, 1912 in Clarinda Iowa and held civic posts with the Cedar Rapids Jaycees Lions Club and YMCA.

Fire kills five in Holyoke apartment blaze
