Walker School Girl Hit By Truck On Rural Road

Lucille Stick ten year old daughter of Mr and Mrs VOG Stick living one mile west of Walker was injured after a light pickup struck her on highway No 1 about one and a half miles west of Walker. The truck driven by James Lavelle Center Point and owned by C E Staff Cedar Rapids slowed to eight to ten mph as the girl and friends crossed the road. The pavement was slick from freezing rain and the girl was shoved and fell. Lavelle rushed her to a physician in Walker and officials were notified. Lucille remained with pelvic and possible internal injuries and head and leg bruises though not thought to be serious. The sheriff and mayor were informed.
