Wallace Moves to Communize Patent System Charged
DETROIT CP The National Patent Council charged Monday night that Secretary of Commerce Wallace planned changes in the patent system that would wreck small manufacturers and undermine the auto industry. John W. Anderson of Gary Ind council president told the Society of Automotive Engineers that the auto industry relies on small firms for parts and faces an American revolution by deception. He accused a commerce department committee of carrying subversive propaganda to commu nize the American patent system. Anderson said a government statement claiming need for major changes asserted the independent inventor is a poor match for modern industrial research. He called the claim bold fiction and challenged Wallace to disprove his figures that 65 to 75 percent of auto components come from independent small manufacturers.
