Iowa City man pleads Alford in 20 year old’s death

Kylie Jo Perkins died after a December fight over a gun at her Iowa City apartment. Alajn Johnson 26 enters an Alford plea to involuntary manslaughter, acknowledging evidence but not admitting guilt. Plea agreement drops additional weapon and drug charges and may set up a five year maximum sentence with restitution and costs.

Suspect sought in window shootings along Highway 3

A dozen houses were shot at between midnight and six in the morning along a 13 mile stretch near Le Mars, with bullets found inside homes. Police urge public help as shots target large windows and a man narrowly escaped a shot past his head. Authorities say the attacks have risen in recent weeks and threaten serious harm.
