Reds Face Pennant Drive With Outfield Weakness Again
Cincinnati's Warren Giles faces a repeat of last season as the Reds rely on a thin outfield with weak hitting. Mike McCormick is the only guaranteed starter, while Harry Craft Jim Gleason Ival Goodman and Ernie Kay show low averages. Hank Sauer could boost the attack if he reaches form. Possible trade talks with Brooklyn for Joe Medwick loom, risking Elmer Riddle. The issue remains how to spark offense around a strong pitching staff.
