DES MOINES AP The Iowa House passed a bill 57 to 30 to require a declaration of actual value when property transfers are recorded. Sponsors say the measure gives assessors a tool to determine fair market value, replacing the current system.
IPBN in Des Moines announces Rod Thole of Madison Wisconsin as new executive director joining July 1 with a 34000 dollar annual salary. Thole previously ran a cable system and succeeds interim chief Hugh Cordier who led IPBN after Thomas Ditzel left amid controversy.
Legislators debate how to apportion property tax revenue as urban and rural property values rise. Nielsen backed restricting value reporting to 1979 data, but the House reversed.
