Hoffman and Ellis H Parker Jr and six others for alleged conspiracy in his kidnaping and torture. Wendel claims Hoffman directed the crimes leading to a false confession in the Lindbergh case. Named defendants include Anna Bading Gustav Lockwood Carroll T. Jones James Kirham and Walter Yoos among others.
Tokyo AP reports a Japanese navy spokesman warned the U S Navy expansion bill signals potential operations against Japan. He suggested Americans aim to project forces overseas, possibly near Japanese islands, while noting U S defenses and alliances are debated and questioned by Tokyo officials.
Iowa Electric Light and Power company announces dividends on all classes of its preferred stock. Dividends totaling over 90000 will be paid April 20 to shareholders of record March 34. Rates: 7 percent preferred 87.5 cents per share, 6 percent preferred 14 cents, 6 percent preferred 75 cents. unchanged from prior years.

London AP Prime Minister Chamberlain on Thursday refused to give Czechoslovakia a flat pledge of British military help against German aggression. He pledged the house of commons Britain would use its new armaments to fulfill treaty obligations and would fight if France or Belgium were unjustly attacked. He stated Britain has treaty obligations to Portugal, Iraq and Egypt and warned that war in central Europe could draw Britain in, while stressing no vital interests in the region.
