Directed Verdict Denied in Anamosa Embezzlement Trial
In Anamosa, the defense in the embezzlement case of J. M. Conway rested Friday afternoon as Judge H. C. Ring denied the directed verdict motions. Defense claims Conway was not a public official and that the auditor role at the reformatory never existed. Witnesses from Anamosa testified about cashing personal checks in 1931 in the auditor's office.
