About 100 production workers at Rockwell Graphics Systems Division in southwest Cedar Rapids will be laid off this weekend as the printer manufacturer reacts to a continued global downturn in business. Personnel Manager Tom Davis said salaried positions are under review and staffing needs will be adjusted to match conditions. The layoff brings Cedar Rapids employment to about 700.
Tom Davis, personnel manager, says the company is returning to a normal business curve and moving most operations to the former FMC building on Bowling Street SW. The west Goss building will be used for warehousing and fabrication prep while offices move east to be closer to production. Machining will consolidate on the east side.
