Glenn Harry Wendler 69 of High Amana died March 20 2001 at St Luke's Hospital from an aortic aneurysm. Services 10 a.m. Friday Middle Amana Church with calling 4 to 8 p m Thursday at the church. Survived by wife Mary three children Guy Wendler Terri Cedar Rapids Stuart Wendler High Amana Susy Wendler Reihmann Randy Middle Amana seven grandchildren and a sister Janet Wendler Zuber Carroll of High Amana. He was born October 26 1931 in High Amana and educated at Amana High School followed by Iowa State University BS civil engineering 1954 PE 1962. He worked for Howard R Green Co County Engineer Iowa County Dave Schmitt Construction Co and founded Wendler Engineering Construction Inc in 1973 retiring as chairman in 1997. He served on Amana Society board including president and was an elder for 40 years in Amana Church Society. He enjoyed zither music hunting fishing and built a retirement home on Lake Vermillion Minnesota called North Amana. Memorials to Amana Church Society or charity of choice.
