Cross Creek review celebrates Miss Rawlings life on her farm
A Cedar Rapids reader profiles May Sarton style portraits in Cross Creek by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, praising her cooking, patience, and humor in depicting life at Cross Creek with neighbors Geechee and Martha. The excerpt reviews St. John Belgrade dispatches and Morison Admiral of the Ocean Sea, noting Rawlings’ lyrical yet practical prose. Including book notes for Grow Your Own Vegetables and a Cedar chapter OES meeting, the page blends literary notices with local society items.
