Iowa honey crop rises 20 percent in 2017 despite fewer colonies
USDA data show Iowa honey production for five-or-more colony producers reached 2.03 million pounds in 2017, up 14 percent from 2016, with 35 000 colonies and yield 58 pounds per colony. State crop value rose 22 percent to 4.51 million dollars while average price rose to 2.22 dollars per pound.
