Tower Work Underway for Cedar Rapids Microwave Upgrade
Workmen resume reinforcing a new Northwestern Bell microwave tower in downtown Cedar Rapids to support four 24 ton Hermacopia antennas for TV radio and long distance calls. The 320 foot tower replaces the 250 foot structure and will direct antennas to Iowa City Waterloo and Des Moines. Microwave links enable high volume cross country calls and route switching to cables at points along a line.
