Coralville man Kenneth Johns appeared via video from jail in a second court session for the March 7 alleged abduction of his 10 year old stepdaughter. He faces second degree kidnapping weapons and felon in possession charges with bail set at 100000.
A 19-year-old Hiawatha man, Taylor R. Bowles, faces first-degree kidnapping and other charges after allegedly breaking into a neighbor's home and assaulting a 7-year-old girl. Judge Sean McPartland halted the proceedings to determine Bowles's competency, citing a potential bipolar disorder and ordering a psychiatric evaluation at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville.
Mandy R Watson, 39, of Lone Tree, is charged in University of Iowa Public Safety complaints with using fake names and addresses from Sept 18 2013 to Feb 4 to obtain drugs at UI Hospitals and Clinics. She allegedly received services and medication valued over 8000 dollars without payment or insurance claims. She faces counts including second degree theft and prohibited acts.
Steven L. Viers, 54, was found guilty of third offense operating while intoxicated and driving while barred in Linn County. He faces up to 17 years. sentencing set for May 5. The case notes earlier incidents including OWI in Johnson County and a pending trial for third offense OWI and driving while barred on May 26.
