Senate Democrat Tom Harkin charges Gov. Terry Branstad with letting Iowa welfare reform lag. He questions the use of an $8 million bonus tied to reform, urging funds go to job training and education. Branstad’s spokesman defends Iowa as a leader in moving people from welfare to work.

Linn County will pay about 17 090 dollars to switch to a simulcast paging system after a glitch caused garbled tone only messages for emergency workers between four county towers.
