Cedar Rapids officers honored for shooting case arrest
Patrol officers Doug Kraft and Steve Spicher received the city’s Medal of Honor for an armed confrontation on March 9 1985. They pursued a suspect at Fourth Avenue and 12th Street SE and tackled him after he fired a shot. Nathaniel D Carey, wounded, faced two attempted murder charges and remained at large.
