Proposal to aid small Iowa schools draws opposition
At a public hearing in Des Moines about a Senate plan allowing parents in tiny districts to send children to neighboring districts with tuition paid by the home district, education groups warn it won’t fix core problems. Critics fear forced consolidations for 78 districts and loss of local control, while supporters say it offers options for underperforming schools.
