Houston show disqualifies 1983 grand champion steer

Houston officials disqualified Clifton Smith of Lyford’s 1255 pound Chianina after an Oklahoma veterinarian cared for the steer for about two months before the show. Smith admitted the animal was not in his care, citing hoof disease and an extended stay with the Cordell, Oklahoma vet. He said he did not know a rule existed.
