Hiawatha OKs third Little League softball diamond
The Hiawatha City Council voted to build a third softball diamond this spring in the city park at a cost of 3800 from the recreation budget. The plan, requested by Little League’s Bob Borelli, rearranges two existing diamonds to fit the new field and may lead to two more diamonds in 1982. Borelli notes Little League players now comprise 10 percent of the town’s population and growth could add 50 to 60 players next year.
