Iowa Senate approves texting while driving penalty expansion
The Iowa Senate votes 44 6 to make texting while driving a primary offense carrying a 30 dollar fine. Law enforcement officers are exempt from the ban. If texting causes injury or death, fines rise to 500 1000 or suspensions up to 180 days. The bill moves to the House.
