Iowa medical students celebrate Match Day placements across the nation

Cedar Rapids student Ethan Craig and peers learned their residency destinations on Match Day. 14 go to California, 11 to Illinois, Missouri and Wisconsin each send 10 residents, 36 stay in state, 28 at UIHC. Craig matched otolaryngology at Washington University.

Calder Park renaming to honor leukemia survivor Calder Strong

Calder was diagnosed with T cell lymphoma in February 2016 and died at age 12 on November 4. The Wills family donated 16000 to Riverfront Crossings Nature Play Area. the city weighs renaming Hickory Trail Park to Calder Park to honor him and avoid confusion. The council may approve a two year waiver and place an entrance sign and plaque at the park.
