Jury convicts woman in arson scheme in Iowa case
A federal jury in Cedar Rapids found Beth Galloway, 42, of Camanche, guilty of mail fraud, using fire to commit mail fraud, and conspiracy to commit money laundering linked to an arson plot with ex-Jones County deputy James Plower. The pair sought to defraud an insurer of about 152000 with staged fires. Plower was sentenced to 13 years and ordered to restitution over 152000. A Cedar Rapids blaze at 910 B Ave NW displaced a family of four. Firefighters arrived at 5:19 a m to heavy fire and smoke on the second floor. Salvage covers saved belongings but the first floor and basement suffered water damage. No injuries reported. Cause under investigation.
