Retail Sales Tax Receipts Hit New Quarterly High
Iowa state sales tax receipts for the current quarter set a new record, approaching 15 million dollars. Through mid week the nine month total reached 40.92 million, edging past last year’s nine month figure and signaling a strong shopping season in the Christmas quarter. The commission projects March totals near 14.65 million, with the quarter’s rise attributed to higher late year business and stronger retail activity.
