CBO estimates GOP bill would widen uninsured, raise premiums
The analysis says the plan would cut Medicaid and ACA subsidies, trimming the deficit by 337 billion over ten years but leaving 52 million uninsured in 2026 versus 28 million under current law. Premiums for single policyholders could rise 15 to 20 percent in 2018 and 2019 before later easing.

Voter ID bill eyed as unfunded mandate in county budget
Supervisor Brent Oleson warns HF 516 dubbed the Rizer Tax could raise the county levy by 3 cents per 1000 as the fiscal 2018 budget faces a state Senate review. If approved, the 6.14 per 1000 levy would mark four consecutive years without a county rate increase. A public hearing is set for 10 am at the Jean Oxley Building before the vote. Johnson County officials warn e-pollbooks and upgrades may raise costs and risk disenfranchisement, with Weipert noting current hardware but need for staffing and equipment funds.
