One Man Army Sgt. Kelly Receives Medal of Honor
Pittsburgh native Tech. Sgt. Charles F. Kelly of the 36th Texas division earned the Medal of Honor in Italy for repeated heroic volunteer missions. He killed 40 Germans, destroyed machine guns, gathered intelligence under fire, and held a house alone to cover a unit’s withdrawal. He is 23 with six brothers in service. his fiancée reportedly married a seaman.
