Doctors unite to oppose free standing clinics in Cedar Rapids
Four Cedar Rapids family practice specialists Dr. J P Jacobs Dr Christopher Shank Dr Thomas Schroeder and Dr Randall Hinrichs formed a local chapter of the Iowa and American Academy of Family Practice to educate the public on continuity of care. They warn free standing clinics fragment care and push patients to stay with one doctor from birth to death. They note one such center exists now with three planned by summer and emphasize after hours care is available through their offices or emergency rooms. They urge patients to request their visit records be sent to their regular physician.
