Saigon reports 88 American combat deaths the previous week, down 22 percent from 113, while wounded rise 72 percent to 803. U S totals show 40,846 killed since 1961 and 269,099 wounded, with 1,363 missing or captured. Allied claims 2,105 Viet Cong and North Vietnamese killed.
Cambridge police seek a mystery woman linked to two bombings and an arson riot trial of H. Rap Brown. A blast tore through a Cambridge courthouse after another explosion near Bel Air, killing two men identified as Ralph Featherstone and William Payne. Police noted 7,000 dynamite detonators were stolen from an ordnance firm near the sites.
Earl Crocker 41 walked away from the Oakdale medical security facility on Wednesday while on a work pass and was recaptured by Davenport police at 6 45 a m Thursday. Crocker had left the Sharon Salvage Co at 9 a m Wednesday and his absence prompted remarks from local officials and state seniors. He had earlier been committed to Mt Pleasant state mental facility in 1966 and moved to Oakdale after escape. He will be confined again and staff note he had shown good conduct since November prior to this lapse.
