Gardner Scores Churchills Talk
DES MOINES INS The address of Winston Churchill at Fulton Mo was described by Lou Gardner publicity chairman for the state Republican central committee as a plain attempt to sell us another war. He called the speech one that should have been made in England not on American soil and said its settings in the Midwest with the President gave it national approval. Gardner argued it did not help the UN or relations with Russia or offer a peace solution, warning it suggested force and alliance seen in past wars. He also noted former Gov Harold Stassen’s appearance left Republicans with a favorable impression in light of the 1948 race. ELGIN Although snow 10 inches deep Ern Holzer caught 19 black suckers at Otter creek.
