Imam Selim Leads Cedar Rapids Islamic Center Growth
The Islamic Center of Cedar Rapids, built in 1971, now led by Imam Hassan Selim, a 29 year old Egyptian-born reformer, fosters interfaith ties while addressing Islamophobia sparked by national politics. He studied at Al Azhar and lived in Egypt during the 2011 revolution before moving to Iowa in 2012.
