Health care union sues regents over contract after Iowa law change

SEIU Local 199 representing 3,500 UI Hospitals and Clinics workers filed a lawsuit in Polk County District Court seeking enforcement of a ratified two year contract that guaranteed raises and a voice on the job. The suit argues the Board of Regents refused to honor the earlier deal after lawmakers altered bargaining rules.

Des Moines Teen Killed By City Road Grader Outside Lincoln High

Des Moines police say 16 year old Antonio Sanchez Peck died after being struck by a city road grader near Lincoln High School as he walked with friends after school. Investigators describe the incident as a tragic accident and no charges are expected at this time.

City mulls N Ninth Street lane reduction plan
