Iowa Transportation Commission eyes five-year plan amid gas tax boost
The Iowa Transportation Commission and DOT Officials in Ames weigh how to spend a gas tax windfall of nearly 500 million. They back wider corridors and improved stewardship including widening Highway 20 and advancing I 380 and I 80 work. A 220 million four lane expansion and a 283 thousand dollar RISE grant for Northgate Drive in Iowa City highlight funding. The plan aims to reduce congestion, meet critical needs, and accelerate road upgrades for 2016 20 with emphasis on land purchases and interchanges.
