Roundup of thefts assaults and Luther College inauguration
Thieves stole four tires and wheels from a truck of David Gage and two wheels from Kathi Frasher’s car in separate Tuesday incidents. Robert J. Berends, 49, was charged with assault and interference after a Wednesday arrest following a ransacking at Violet Titus’s mobile home. Luther College president George Anderson and Sunny will be honored with a public reception on March 21 and an inauguration on March 27, with a campus concert to follow.

Young man receives three concurrent prison terms
Donald Kirschbaum of Marquette was sentenced by Judge Forrest Eastman in Clayton County District Court to one five year term and two ten year terms. All sentences run concurrently. The five year term covers breaking probation on a second degree burglary conviction, while the two ten year terms relate to second degree burglary tied to multiple cabin break ins in the McGregor area and thefts from area farms.

Decorah Man Charged After Highway 9 Collision
Decorah resident Kim Abbott, 19, was charged with failure to stop at an assured safe distance after his pickup struck Robert Coons, 37, who was stopped to turn left on Highway 9. Damages totaled 600 dollars to Coons’s Farm Service truck and 500 dollars to Abbott’s pickup.
