Special Olympics Iowa Mid-Winter Tournament Coming to Iowa City
More than 1,000 athletes from across Iowa travel to Iowa City for the 30th annual Mid-Winter Tournament with opening ceremonies at the Marriott Coralville. Events run Saturday at the University of Iowa Field House and Iowa City high schools featuring basketball cheerleading gymnastics and powerlifting. Stephanie Kocer of Special Olympics Iowa notes the tournament is the third largest statewide event and likens it to a state meet where athletes value medals and friendships.
