Marion board weighs cuts to cover 900000 shortfall
Marion Independent School District faces a 900000 budget gap for 2015 and will consider cost saving ideas at tonight's meeting. Administrators propose cuts across administration staffing, building budgets, program eliminations, and several teacher positions while some options are ruled out by law or policy. The board plans to publish a levy of 18.20 per 1000 and may schedule a budget hearing for March 31 with a target to cut 450000 and raise 450000 in new revenue.
