Property Owners Question Medical District Plan in Cedar Rapids
About 50 residents attended a meeting to learn how a proposed self supporting district anchored by St Luke s Hospital and Mercy Medical Center could affect taxes and development within the boundary from I 380 to Eighth Avenue SE. Residents raised concerns over tax impact on rentals and older buildings while officials emphasized exemptions for residential properties and planned improvements. A second meeting is set for Thursday and petitions to the City Council could begin in June with a council vote hoped for by October.
