Senate approves sale of law school bonds in Iowa
The Iowa Senate approved authorizing $63.78 million in revenue bonds for the three state universities. Iowa State University would receive 30.49 million for an agronomy building, the University of Iowa 24.77 million for a new law school, and the University of Northern Iowa 8.52 million for a communications arts center. It targets Chicago & North Western bids for the north south line and a 12 mile east-west Des Moines segment, seeking open use for others at a fair fee. Rep. Jean Lloyd-Jones warns loss of the Des Moines segment would threaten state rail viability.
