Capt. Corniglion Molinier and Andre Malraux telegraphed from French Somaliland that they found the lost capital of the Queen of Sheba in the Ruba-El-Khali desert. They photographed towers and temples said to still stand, claiming a site 1000 miles from Jerusalem and 900 miles northeast of French Somaliland. Malraux, 1933 Goncourt winner and archaeologist, warned that desert survival would be grim if their plane failed.

In Oklahoma City seven civil works employees were buried when a storm sewer ditch wall collapsed on Friday. Two men, Claude Davidson and Co. M. Caple, were rescued alive with critical injuries. The depth ranged from seventeen to twenty feet and water filled the bottom. Rescue efforts faced further cave ins as dirt and water impeded operations. Firemen CWA crews and police worked to shore the ditch and recover entombed workers amid dangerous conditions.
The Iowa House approved by 82 to 25 a bill to enforce NRA codes and regulations as state law for intrastate business. Filing NRA rules with the secretary of state would make them enforceable, with fines of 500 dollars per day for violations and up to six months’ imprisonment. The bill moves to the Senate with party splits and mixed rhetoric on the NRA’s effectiveness.
