Teddy Morris a 20 year old Norfolk man arrested as a fugitive from Georgia in the Flynt shooting was released after Georgia officials acknowledged his arrest stemmed from a hoax. Morris had claimed to be paid to shoot in Georgia but his attorney said he was in Norfolk at the time of the incident. Georgia officers questioned Morris and stated he telephoned him reporting a hoax to collect a reward, while Morris refused extradition. Flynt remained in hospital with uncertain paralysis prognosis as doctors treated him after the six hour operation. Comedian Dick Gregory and Screw publisher Al Goldstein visited Flynt as efforts continued to determine his condition.
