Area Ten Must Reject 700 Enrollees in Fall
Area Ten Community college will turn away at least 700 prospective students next fall, superintendent Selby Ballantyne told the Area Ten board. With an expected enrollment of about 2,300, the college can likely admit only 1,600 due to limited funds. Ballantyne cited a possible $3.5 million budget and tuition increases to raise revenue. The board also approved a lease for 35,000 square feet of additional classroom space at Hawkeye Plaza, plus other campus planning and staffing actions.
