Transient sought for passing forged $8.40 check
Police searched Iowa cities for a transient identified as H. Knight who passed a forged $8.40 check at the First Avenue Potato Market on March 2. William Singer, market manager, reported the forgery. the check bore the name Harry O. Cutler and was drawn on Merchants National Bank. Cutler, who has an account at the bank, denied knowledge of the check. The transient stayed at three Cedar Rapids places before leaving March 3.
