Second chance for sales tax revote in Linn County
Five Linn County cities that rejected a local-option sales tax will be allowed to vote again on May 5. Cedar Rapids plans to place the issue on the ballot after Marion cited voter confusion over the tax use. If approved, Marion would gain about 3 million annually, Hiawatha nearly 1 million, Robins about 300 thousand, Center Point 250 thousand, and Walford 14 thousand, with the tax collecting in all five jurisdictions.
