No U.S. Aid for Building of Police-Fire Structure
Cedar Rapids officials report federal funds will cover architects and engineers fees only for the planned 2.5 million police and fire headquarters. Construction costs must be funded by a larger bond issue, with voters' approval required, after leadership sought about 800 thousand in federal aid. The plan includes site options on First avenue and Fifth avenue SE and contemplates space under the Cedar Valley expressway to cope with expansion.
