Hughes Budget Action Hurts Liquor Bill Outlook
Davenport AP Republican Rep. Paul Knowles says Gov. Hughes lowered liquor by the drink revenue estimate to 2.5 million annually in his budget message, undermining support for the bill. Knowles notes Hughes promised 10 to 20 million guidance during campaigns and cites potential 8 to 10 million as possible. He argues the promise pressure was defused and the bill’s passage chances now hover around fifty percent as state liquor store revenue declines.
