Interim committee approval needed for Des Moines lease
Des Moines interim legislative committee approval is required for the Des Moines office lease to be valid. Attorney General Fred D. Everett said the comptroller was within rights to withhold $1,841.67 monthly rent since January due to lack of interim committee approval. The executive council extended the 1934 lease without interim approval, prompting the payment hold. An related note states postage for the lieutenant governor may be provided, despite a general ban on legislators’ postage. A separate opinion mentions Iowa insurance firms may invest in federal housing loans.
