Tragedy Under Eighth Avenue Bridge In River Rescue
Hester and companion Eugene Webb were in a small boat under the Eighth Avenue bridge when the craft filled with water. Hester jumped in and drowned after a swift current carried him downstream to near the Penick and Ford plant intake. Webb escaped to the west bank.
